John Allison
Mr. Allison is Chairman & CEO of Unio Holdings LLC, a New York-based specialty investment firm. To take on this responsibility Mr. Alison retired from his decade at W.P. Stewart & Co. where he had held the dual titles of Chairman & CEO. Prior to W.P. Stewart he worked in very senior capacities for Auchincloss & Lawrence – which he eventually purchased and combined with W.P. Stewart. He holds a B.A. degree from Princeton and an M.A. and M. Phil. Degrees from Columbia.
Luke Beatty
He is the founder & President of Associated Content, a user-generated Internet content provider. Prior to this, Beatty was on the executive management team at WAND Inc. another Internet company whose express purpose is to develop online directory, search and advertising taxonomies and technologies. He received his B.A. from Connecticut College, his MBA from Harvard.
Tom Brady
Mr. Brady runs the well-respected ESOP Advisors Group, a California-based consulting firm that specializes in the design and implementation of ESOPs in mid-market, privately held companies. He and his firm are well- known for their expertise in the areas of related corporate tax issues, employee benefits and estate planning. He is a graduate of the University of San Francisco.
Senator Tom Daschle
A former United States Senator, he held both Minority and Majority Leader titles during his tenure from 1987 to 2005. He is currently the Senior Policy Advisor to the Washington, DC-based law firm Alston & Bird and at the Center for American Progress. He received his B.A. from South Dakota State University.
Leo Hindery, Jr.
Mr. Hindery is CEO of Intermedia Partners and has spent most of his 34-year career operating and investing in media companies. Most recently, he helped form YES Network, where he was Chairman and CEO. Prior to YES, Mr. Hindery was associated at very high levels with Global Center Inc, Global Crossing Ltd and AT&T. He has been the recipient of many awards, among them Cable Operator of the Year and Top 25 Executives of the Year by Business Week. He holds both a B.A from Seattle University and an MBA from Stanford.
Senator Bob Kerrey
Senator Kerrey is the President of New School University in New York City. He has been there in that capacity since 2001. From 1988 until 2000, he represented the State of Nebraska in the United States Senate. He was Governor of that State as well. He currently leads a five-year writing challenge sponsored by the National Commission on Writing in America’s School and Colleges, is co-chair of The National Commission for Quality Long-Term Care and served on the all important National Commission on Terrorist Attacks upon the United States. He holds a B.S. from the University of Nebraska.
Burl Osborne
Mr. Osborne has had a distinguished career in journalism, having served as the long time Publisher and eventually President of the Publishing Division of the Belo Corporation. A former Chairman of the Associated Press, he currently sits on the Advisory Boards of the prestigious Nieman Foundation at Harvard, J.C. Penney Company and Freedom Communications. He earned his B.A. from Marshall University, his MBA from Long Island University.
Jeffrey Ubben
A founder and now Managing Partner of investment firm ValueAct Capital, Mr. Ubben has served in like capacities at Blum Capital and was a portfolio manager for Fidelity Investments. He has served on numerous Advisory Boards and is a 1983 graduate of Duke University with a B.A degree and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Northwestern University.
Fay Vincent
Former Commissioner of Major League Baseball, Mr. Vincent is a private investor. Following his B.A from Williams College and his LLD from Yale University, he practiced corporate and securities law in both New York and Washington, DC before joining, albeit briefly, the SEC as a senior executive. Before joining MLB he was President and CEO of Columbia Pictures and Executive Vice President of the Coca-Cola Company.
Teen Advisory Board
Cort Ahl
Cort Ahl, 18, is a senior at Stratton Mt. School and will be a member of Duke University’s class of 2012. Cort is a competitive alpine ski racer and ranks in the top 90 (in his age group) in the nation in Slalom(87), Giant Slalom(61) and Super G(76). He is a member of Stratton Mt. School’s lacrosse team, and its 2008 captain. Other interests include tennis, golf, drums and sailing (he is a sailing instructor during the summer months.) Academic interests include government, French and English. Cort sees true value in saving the lives of his peers and looks forward to contributing to the Cell Block Teen Advisory Board.
Josephine Ubben
Josephine (Jo) Ubben, 15, is a freshman at Marin Academy. Jo's academic interests are science and mathematics. Outside the classroom, she has been playing club soccer since fifth grade, and her team the Mission Wildcats were rated the eighth best team in Northern California. She is also a drummer and a singer, and had a band, Where's Helen, through eighth grade. At Marin Academy, she is playing varsity tennis and soccer and is also in the school rock band (playing the piano and singing.) Jo is excited about the opportunity to serve on the Cell Block Teen Advisory Board. She believes Cell Block will save lives, and feels lucky to be able to contribute to a business that has such a purpose.
